Welcome to Bowland Class. The class teachers are Mrs Seed (Monday/Tuesdays) and Mrs Pemberton (Wednesday, Thursday & Friday). We will be supported by our wonderful Teaching Assistants; Mrs Boynton-Marques (Monday-Friday) & Miss Douglas (Wednesday/Thursday).  

Your child will be set a reading book, and they are encouraged to read daily - please could you read alongside your child and use their planner to record this. We have spoken to the children about the importance of using their planner throughout the year, especially for communication with yourselves.  In addition, we have many fun apps and the children can upload book reviews from their reading on Seesaw.

Homework will be given out on a Friday and is due in on the following Friday. Please advise your child to ask for help if they are unsure of anything in their homework. Times Tables tests are every Friday.  Spellings are explicitly taught in school, therefore no weekly tests. However, the Year 4 spellings are in their reading journal and we encourage you to practice these with them using fun ways such as rainbow writing, or how many times can you write a word in one minute? 

Our class are assigned log in details for TT Rock Stars; this enables the children to practise their times tables in a fun way. At the end of year 4, your child will be tested on their times tables knowledge. In addition, there are other apps which encourage the children to learn their multiplication facts, such as Hit the Button. Your child’s login details will be sent home and glued into their homework books. If you require extra sets, please let us know. 

We will continue to use Seesaw for communication as this is a great way to see what your child is doing in class and encourages them to showcase their work too.  

PE is on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons; PE kits should be in on those days. Children go swimming in Year 4 too - letters will be sent home each term to let you know when your child is going swimming. Swimming days are on Thursday afternoons.
