St Wilfrid’s Got Talent

On Friday 19th October, to finish our first half term with a bang our pupils proved they really do have talent when they put on the second spectacular St. Wilfrid’s Got Talent.

Following auditions held earlier in the term, children from Year 1 up to Year 6 spent several weeks rehearsing to ensure that every performance was up to scratch. The school choir kicked things off with a beautiful rendition of ‘Imagine’ by John Lennon, to which they added British Sign Language actions, before singers, dancers, actors, gymnasts, drummers and poetry readers wowed parents, teachers and pupils with a wide variety of acts.

For the penultimate act, a group of Year 6 children presented a game show called, ‘What’s in the Box’, enlisting various teachers to work in teams and figure out what strange things were hidden in the mystery box. Those that got it right scored a point for their team, but if they got it wrong they had to spin a forfeit wheel – poor Mr Gavan was placed on the chair of shame, whilst Mr Warrilow made everyone laugh with his attempt at dancing!

The finale of the talent show saw the choir join forces with Year 4 to sing ‘Electricity’ from Billy Elliot the Musical. All those who took part proved our school really is full of talented, brave youngsters, and hopefully it has inspired others to take part in the future.
