Create Longridge

St Wilfrid’s is proud to have been at the heart of the Create Longridge events held in our town on Saturday 15th July. Click here for Create Longridge website.

Two workshops were held at our school.

In the first workshop, led by teachers and teaching assistants from the school, children aged 5-9 took part in an art workshop based on traditional Longridge employment and craft.

Longridge is famous for;

  • Weaving – there was once 4 mills on our town
  • Quarrying – many buildings of our town and major cities such as Manchester and Liverpool are made from Longridge stone
  • Farming – sheep for their wool; children practised the skill of tufting

In the second workshop, Cherry Chung, Manchester based willow artist, taught children aged 9-13 basket making and willow sculpture. Click here for Cherry’s own website.
