PE and Sport Premium Funding

Schools receive PE and sport premium funding from the government based on the number of pupils in years 1 to 6.  Last year 2020-21, and this school year 2021-22, our school received £16,000 plus an additional payment of £10 per pupil.

At St Wilfrid’s we use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport we offer. This means we use the PE and Sport Premium to:

  • develop or add to the PE and sport activities that we already offer
  • make improvements to PE and sport now that will benefit pupils joining the school in future years

In the last school year (2020-21) we received £17,700. In the current school year (2021-22) we will receive £17,800.

The impact of this funding can be seen by our school maintaining its School Games Silver Mark and the high levels of children achieving age related expectations in PE by the end of the last academic year (2020-21) or in more detail by clicking this link to see our document evidencing the impact of the Primary PE and Sport Premium.

We are also required to publish the percentage of pupils within your year 6 cohort who met the national curriculum requirement to:

  • swim competently, confidently, and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres (**% July 2021)
  • use a range of strokes effectively (**% July 2021 )
  • perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations (**% July 2021)

In addition to their curriculum PE lessons we offer a wide range of extra-curricular clubs, ran by our staff, free of charge, to pupils throughout school.
