Fairsnape (Y1)

  Welcome to Fairsnape Class 2021-22

Mrs Martin, Mrs Ashe and Miss Lord are the adults who teach, guide and care for us in Year 1.

We are always busy in Fairsnape Class! Don’t forget to check our Class SeeSaw for all of the things we have been learning about.  If you have lost your QR code to log in, please come and get a copy from us. You will need to log in to SeeSaw to enable access to any home learning.

Family Album

We have started the new year with a new topic.  We will be thinking about our families and the place we live.  Find our curriculum map showing all about what we will be learning this half term here.

In our history topic we will look at how we grow and change as well as how the toys we play with are different to the toys our parents and grandparents played with.  Here is our knowledge organiser for the topic.

Fire! Fire!

We have been busy finding out all about the Great Fire of London.  We have done lots of research, made model houses and written our own non-fiction book about the fire.  We really enjoyed our visit to Longridge Library to listen to a story set in London during the fire.

Big Art Week – The Dot

We enjoyed listening to our piece of music and creating art work linked to The Dot.  Here are just a selection of photos showing what we did.

English

We have been focussing on the story ‘Colour Monster’.  We have been thinking about our feelings about moving into Year 1 and how we can take care of each other.

We had lots of fun learning the story of Jack and the Beanstalk  we even had a go at writing our own version of the story.  Look at some of the different beanstalks that have appeared in our classroom!

PE

Our PE days are Mondays and Tuesdays. We have been doing lots of team work as well as throwing and catching.

Our Class Charter

At St Wilfrid’s we are proud to be a Rights Respecting School.  We have been thinking about our rights and which ones we think are the most important ones to include in our class charter.

RE

This half term we will be thinking about our families and how they love and care for us.  We are looking forward to sharing stories about our families.

We planned a beautiful collective worship together to celebrate our families and the love and care they show for us.

Science

As part of our ‘Growth and Green Fingers’ topic we have been learning about plants and what they need to grow.  We have been learning about different flowers and trees that grow around our school and looked at how they change with the seasons.
