Dunsop (Y6)

Welcome to Dunsop Class 2020-21

The adults who look after us in Year 6 are Mrs Allonby and Mrs Squires.

Check out the fantastic design of this year’s special Y6 sweatshirts. The characters are from ‘The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse’ by Charlie Mackesy, which is a poignant book about life and friendship for children of all ages. Year 6 would highly recommend this book and entering the world of Charlie’s four unlikely friends, discovering their story and their most important life lessons. It’s Mr McHugh’s favourite book; he’d promote it to all parents as it’s perfect for inspiring discussion about emotions and wellbeing.

The rainbow, is a tribute to all critical workers, who are working so hard during this Corona Virus (CV19) pandemic, including our own amazing staff team in our St Wilf’s Family.

AUTUMN 1 20timetable

Our homework and certificate winners will be published on seesaw weekly.

RE is at the heart of all we do at St. Wilf’s and our topic this term is ‘love’. We can show love in the simple every day things we do.

Here is also a taste of our artwork done so far this term. This artwork is linked to our science topic ‘light’ and we are working on creating curves and shadows on 3D objects.

Here is our ‘knowledge organiser’ for our topic theme of light: (Click the link)

One half term down already – we are flying through year 6!

This half term we will be looking at WW1 and remembrance in both our English and History work. We will also explore electricity in our science work and use this skill to create a Christmas tableau. Take a look at our half term overview for further details on the work that we will be doing.

Here are the knowledge organisers for both history and science. Click on each link to view.

We are also going to enjoy BIG ART WEEK in our first week back and are going to focus on the musical work of Florence Price, notably her Symphony No. 1 in E minor. Florence was inspired by her African heritage and so we will explore some African arts and crafts.

We have worked hard in science, where we have learned how to create circuits, their diagrams and how voltage can effect the components in a circuit. We then used this knowledge to attach a working (switched) circuit to our Christmas tableaus.

We look forward to a New Year, one hopefully more enjoyable than 2020! Here is the overview of the topics that we will be covering in Spring Term 1.
