Online Safety

Online safety is an important issue we want to help tackle, and the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre have a great site ideal for parents and children to explore to help educate us further! It is called Thinkuknow.

Find out what’s good, what’s not and what you can do about it. If you look after young people there’s an area for you too – with resources you can use in the classroom, at home or just to get with it. Most importantly, there’s also a place which anyone can use to report if they feel uncomfortable or worried about someone they are chatting to online.

School updates its parents on important online safety throughout the school year by holding parental workshops or by the school newsletter or letter. In addition, we ensure that all our Year 6 children are given the latest bespoke training before their transition to high school.

Online or E-safety is becoming a real issue to schools. In order to keep our children safe we have decided that children at St Wilfrid’s will not be allowed their own mobile devices on any school trips and school events AND parish or community events where our staff are responsible for the supervision and safety of the children.

Whilst parents are responsible for the safety of the children at home many parents do not realise or understand the real safeguarding risks of simply giving their children a phone or mobile device.
